The good news this year is the final results of 29 ° International Competition Game creators of Boulogne Billancourt where my game The Boatmen was nominated. The Boatmen finish 21st out of 198!

I can not but welcome such an outcome.
course, my game still has flaws, but to achieve such a track record, it keeps a set of qualities which characterizes and differentiates it from other .
To be honest here the defects that criticizes my creation:
- Lack of clarity on some maps.
- Lack of support for the tree game tiles
- management of water is unbalanced between the beginning and end of the game. "After phase 4 [...] The water has almost no impact ..."
- The game seems too long.
- Lack of interaction. Each plays in his corner without worrying about others.
For the management of the water, I wonder if all the rules were well understood. For the last testers who have had this feeling that had forgotten the number of cubes was limited at the end of rounds of play in all cases, it will rework the rule.
The length of the game and the lack of interaction are recurring in criticism. Initially the game was 13 laps, now 8. Paradoxically, the more I reduce the number of turns, the longer the game goes on. Players with only 8 rounds of play to calculate benefit each of these towers. So I think again the number of turns upward (9 laps?) In order to leave a little respite.
As for the lack of interaction, I do not think this is a real problem. First, many game background, in the corner ': Race for the Galaxy Dominion through the Ticket to Ride. The level of interaction Boatmen is similar: the last tile purchased by another player worth a last card 'Village' bought from Dominion or the trip you want to take the Raiders ... Then I have a small idea to improve it!
The qualities cited by the testers Boulogne:
- Labour obvious fact about the game A lot of historical research to delve into the topic. It feels lived!
- Original Theme little exploited with a touch of ecology.
- The different choices to fill the community in light of changing technology: studies, work the fields, plant, conversion to entertainment, politics ...
- Good idea about the conversion engineer, politician or environmentalist.
- Mechanical simple despite the complexity and diversity of opportunities.
- The penalty for idleness (pawns spotless at the end of round) mask the optimization goal.
Today The sailors are set aside in my creations, I have other ideas that I want to achieve at first, but I intend to get back here summer.
