Tips for Windows

1 - Change your profile picture

The image that appears before your profile on the Welcome screen does not please you? Well change it!

1 = Click Start> Settings> Control Panel.
2 = Double-click on User Accounts.
3 = Click on your account then click the Edit my image.
4 = Select the new image in the list then press the Change button portrait.
5 = To use your images, click Search for other images.



2 - A personalized message on startup

This tip can put a custom message before the menu that asks you to select a user to give instructions, advice or to say what that you want.

1 = Go to the registry to the following directory: KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \\ SOFTWARE \\ Microsoft \\ WindowsNT
\\ CurrentVersion \\ Winlogon.
2 = right, there should be key "legalnoticecaption" and key "legalnoticetext.
3 = Change the first and set it on the message title.
4 = Change the second and then you type your message in full.
5 = Reboot to activate.



3 - Have icons unnamed

If you want to have no names to certain icons on your desktop, follow cete little trick

1 = Rename the icon and type 0160 on the numeric keypad with the Alt key.
2 = If you want to do more icons, dial code 0160 (which corresponds to a space) twice, then three ...

Warning: "Use of shadows for the names of icons on the desktop" is checked. To check, go to Control Panel> System> Advanced tab, then Performance Settings.



4 - Know your IP address

Although not on Windows XP, the command "winipcfg" can be replaced by something a slightly longer but equally effective.

1 = Click Start> Run
2 = Type "cmd"
3 = Click "Ok".
4 = In the window that opens, type "ipconfig / all" in the same manner as previously.
