Cambodia: Journey in the Tonle Sap

the heart of the flooded forest of the Great Lake Tonle Sap, canoes make their way between the tops of submerged trees. Each year in this confined region of Cambodia, the waters of the Tonle Sap River flows into the lake for nearly three months, from June to October. The result is a flooded forest and covered by the waters that reveal the balls tops of the tallest trees. As we conclude cross a part of this forest semi-aquatic, a village located in the middle of Others ux is revealed to us. These Kompong Phluk, the only fishing village on stilts in the lake, in the small district of Prasat Bakong. While most fishermen are historically the lake of Vietnamese or Chinese, Kompong Phluk is entirely populated by Cambodians. These families are located in the middle of the flooded forest, there are more than a century. Fishermen from father to son, the village faces competition today intractable industrial fishing that exists on the lake.
